Circle of Security Parenting™ (COS-P)
Supportive, Accessible Parenting Guidance
What is Circle of Security?
Circle of Security is an 8‑session group or 1:1 programme where we watch real parents navigating real moments. It offers a simple, visual map of attachment that helps you understand what your child needs emotionally — especially in the messy, everyday moments. You’ll learn to spot when your child needs comfort, connection, or encouragement to explore, and how to respond in ways that build security.
Parents often realise they move around the Circle in their adult relationships too — turning to some people for comfort and others for encouragement. It’s a map for all relationships, not just parenting.
Real‑life Examples
A mum noticed she tensed up when her son cried — echoing her own childhood messages to “be strong.” Around others who felt judging, this got louder. Naming this as shark music helped her pause and offer comfort instead of shutting down.
A dad grew impatient with his daughter’s frustration because anger was forbidden in his childhood. Learning that anger is an activating, boundary‑setting emotion - not a “bad” one - helped him recognise his shark music and respond with patience instead of pressure.
Circle of Security Parenting™ is a warm, reflective programme designed to help you understand your child’s emotional needs and strengthen your connection together.
Whether you join in person (Manchester) or online, the sessions offer a gentle, reassuring space to explore what helps children feel safe, supported, and confident.
Across 8 sessions of around 90 minutes, you’ll learn to notice your child’s signals, understand what they need from you in tricky moments, and reflect on your own experiences — including the “shark music” that can make parenting feel harder than it needs to be.
Attending all sessions is recommended, as each one builds thoughtfully on the last.
